On October 14, Dimmu Borgir — who just happen to be Demi Lovato's favorite black-metal band — will release a a three-disc DVD/CD set called "The Invaluable Darkness," the band's first visual offering since 2002's "World Misanthropy." Boasting live footage shot last year, during gigs in Norway, Germany and England, "The Invaluable Darkness" demonstrates the unbridled furor of seeing Dimmu live, guitarist Silenoz said.
"It shows the honest rawness and atmospheric darkness of our concerts," the Norwegian told Metal File last week, after dismissing recent online rumors that his band's next LP would be coming out through Roadrunner Records. "Basically, it shows the intense live side of the band, as opposed to the perfection and the cleanness of how we sound on our albums. It's just a different side to the band, basically."
Dimmu Borgir began thinking about "The Invaluable Darkness" two years ago, but didn't start capturing footage until last summer, Silenoz explained, adding that the band will use its current stint on the Blackest of the Black Tour — which got underway Thursday night in Miami Beach, Florida, and also features the tour's founder, Danzig, along with
Moonspell, Winds of Plague and Skeletonwitch — to promote the DVD. Dimmu Borgir will not, however, use the tour to write material for their next LP.
"It's our first time on Blackest, but Glenn [Danzig] had wanted to bring us out before [on the tour], but we weren't available until now," Silenoz said. "We've done Ozzfest before, but we're looking forward to this tour more. We did the main stage on Ozzfest, playing in f--_ing broad daylight. This tour will let us play in bigger places, but at the same time showcase more of what the band's about, visually. We are going to concentrate on the tour for now. Some years ago, we tried putting [material] together on the road, but once we got home, we listened back to it, and were like, 'What the f--- is this?' So, we just scrapped it all. We find it's so much better to totally focus on one thing at a time, and then, when that's over, you move on to the next [thing]. We don't really feel like we need to rush things, anyway, so we'll just take our time, and it's going to be what it's going to be."
Dimmu Borgir hope to reconvene in late December to begin writing the follow-up to 2007's diabolically titled In Sorte Diaboli. "We have some ideas floating around already, but we haven't arranged any material yet," he said. "We'll start doing that once the touring for this DVD is over." The band's frontman, Shagrath, is also due to marry soon — he's engaged to actor Nicolas Cage's ex-girlfriend, Christina Fulton, so that may have an effect on when Dimmu finish their next album, which Silenoz said could be out this coming spring.
"I'm sure [Shagrath] won't let anything get in the way [of] the band — I think, I hope," the guitarist said. "We don't need a Yoko [Ono] situation."
While Dimmu have been at it going on 15 years now, Silenoz said he doesn't think their forthcoming material will be much of a departure from their previous black-metal offerings.
"And we have always been about more than just that term, 'black metal,' " he said. "Luckily for us, the older you get, the less concerned you get with the categorization and putting labels on your music. Things start getting more and more limitless with us, and we know that we operate within certain frames. But we try not to analyze things too much, because it's just going to be working against you in the end. When we write new stuff, we don't think about what we should write — we just get together, and put material together, and if we like it, we keep it. That's the formula, if we even have a formula."
Dimmu Borgir are definitely getting older — guitarist Galder will be missing Blackest because of a recent addition to his family, and Susperia's Cyrus will be filling in for him; while former Vader drummer Dariusz Brzozowski takes over for Hellhammer, who had to leave the band in 2007 after sustaining a neck injury that's now limited the use of his right arm. As Dimmu has gotten on in years, Silenoz admits they have failed to keep pace with some of the more extreme black-metal acts that have followed in their wake.
"We helped open doors for the more extreme bands out there," Silenoz said. "I'm sure we helped open doors for bands like Watain, [insomuch as] people that had maybe started listening to us first then went on to the more extreme stuff. Let's face it — we're not as extreme as Watain and other bands like that, but we're fine with that."
The Blackest of the Black Tour continues through November 10 in San Francisco.
The rest of the week's metal news:
Dimmu's tourmates on Blackest, Winds of Plague, have announced ex-Azusa drummer Art Cruz has joined their ranks — he replaced Jeff Tenney. According to the band's blog, "Art has already added a new spark to the band and has provided us with a solid backbone that will allow us to continue our rampage stronger than ever." ...

Coldplay, Led Zeppelin Album Covers Featured On New British Stamps

On Thursday (January 7), the U.K.'s Royal Mail unveiled a series of 10 new stamps, honoring the most iconic album covers of the past 40 years.
The albums featured in the new series are the Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed, Led Zeppelin's IV, David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells, The Clash's London Calling, New Order's Power, Corruption and Lies, Primal Scream's Screamadelica, Pink Floyd's The Division Bell, Blur's Parklife and — the most recent album on to make the cut — Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head.
Meant to honor "the most potent graphic images of modern times, many of which have provided a visual soundtrack to people's lives," the series is the end result of a lengthy research process by the Royal Mail, who looked through thousands of album covers by British artists before deciding on the final list. And, during a Wednesday night BBC Radio broadcast, it was revealed that the queen herself actually approved each design.
Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page — who helped design the cover for IV — was on hand to celebrate the release of the stamps and recalled the mysterious nature of the album's iconic imagery.
"Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he said. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time."
Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their Rush of Blood stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date."
"We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too."

Britney Spears' 'Me Against The Music': 'Glee' Vs. The Original
Watch Brittany and Santana's version side-by-side with Britney and Madonna's.By Jocelyn Vena
Heather Morris and Britney Spears on the set of "Glee"
Photo: Facebook
Heather Morris, who plays hilariously ditzy cheerleader Brittany on "Glee," got to channel her sort-of namesake on Tuesday night's "Britney/Brittany" episode. And the professional-dancer-turned-actress didn't disappoint as she re-enacted Spears' videos for "Toxic," "Slave 4 U" and "Me Against the Music." She tackled all of them with her spectacular dance skills and a pretty killer singing voice.
The anesthesia-induced dream sequences followed one of Brittany's stellar reveals: "My name is also Britney Spears. Brittany S. Pierce. I've lived my entire life in Britney Spears' shadow." Well, on Tuesday night she stepped out of her shadow.
Of all the video reinterpretations in the episode, the Madonna/Britney team-up, which saw Santana playing Madge and Brittany playing you guessed it, paid homage to the original 2003 video, directed by Paul Hunter. Aside from a few artistic tweaks in the "Glee" version's choreography, Morris and company do the original justice.
"The 'Me Against the Music' montage, it's literally copied exactly from the video, the shots and looks, but the choreography is made so much more for a dancer — none of it is from the video," Morris told New York magazine about the "Glee" version. "You just have to wait to see it. It's insane."
Hunter spoke to MTV News last year about his original concept for Britney's "Music" video. "I try to play opposites, when you have Britney in dark and Madonna in white," he said. "And then we see them kind of dance around the bed .. and you think they're gonna get on top of each other and do something crazy."

Mary J. Blige Dishes On Her 'Crazy' Led Zeppelin Covers
'I've listened to their music since I was a child,' says the R&B diva, who recorded 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love.'By James Montgomery, with reporting by Larry Carroll
Mary J. Blige

You wouldn't peg Mary J Blige as the black-light-and-tapestry sort, but, as has become readily apparent in recent weeks, she absolutely loves Led Zeppelin.
In early February, reports began circulating that Blige had re-recorded Zeppelin's classic "Stairway to Heaven," working with Travis Barker, "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai on the track, which is slated to appear on the international reissue of her Stronger With Each Tear album, due Monday.
But after she had recorded "Stairway," Blige continued to get the Led out, covering another Zeppelin classic — the thunderous "Whole Lotta Love" — for the album too. And when MTV News caught up with her on the Essence Black Women in Hollywood red carpet, she told us all about channeling her inner Robert Plant for the tracks, a process that came much easier than you'd probably imagine.
"I did Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love' — it's crazy," she said. "I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I'm not going to say I've been to their concerts, but I've listened to their music since I was a child, and it's always moved me, especially 'Stairway to Heaven,' and 'Whole Lotta Love' is just fun."
Blige also said she recorded another new song — a "club record" called "I Can't Wait" — for the re-release. And while it's only slated to hit shelves outside the U.S., she hopes her fans will get a chance to hear all the new songs pretty soon.
"I want y'all to hear it," she laughed.

Michael Jackson's Bodyguard Is Blanket's Dad?
One of the mysteries left behind by Michael Jackson's untimely death is the true parentage of his youngest son, Prince Michael II, a.k.a. Blanket. Jackson claimed that he was the biological father, and that his sperm was used to impregnate a surrogate mother. But there has been much speculation that Jackson wasn't the true sperm donor -- and now, a former bodyguard is saying that he may be Blanket's biological dad.
Matt Fiddes, 29, a British martial arts expert, told the UK Daily Mail that he donated sperm to Jackson in 2001. Fiddes, who ran security for Jackson during British trips, says that Jackson heard him joking with his wife about the trouble they were having conceiving a child. Jackson offered to help his friend by sending him to fertility doctors, saying, "I think you'd be a wonderful dad." According to Fiddes, Jackson paid to have his sperm tested, then offered him a large sum of money for a sperm donation because "he wanted a fit, athletic son." Fiddes claims that he turned down the money, and made three sperm donations without any kind of formal contract or confidentiality agreement. The following year, Blanket was born.
"I never asked Michael if Blanket was mine and he never told me," Fiddes tells the newspaper. "As Blanket grew up I could see the resemblance... in 2009 a mutual friend saw a picture of Blanket in a magazine and rang me up straight away. He said, 'what have you done? You've donated sperm to Michael.'"
Fiddes is friends with another Jackson employee, Mark Lester, who claims to have donated the sperm that fathered Michael's daughter Paris. Fiddes says that he and Lester have a pact to come the United States and get DNA tests if Michael's elderly mother, Katherine Jackson, dies while the children are still in her custody. They claim they're not interested in Jackson's money; they'd simply like access to the children they believe to be theirs.
"Katherine Jackson has already denied me the right to see Blanket," says Fiddes, "but if she were to die I would be straight over there."
We have to admit, we do see the resemblance between Blanket and Fiddes -- but when it comes to Jackson, it's hard to know who's telling the truth, and who's trying to get a piece of his multi-million dollar estate. We may not ever know the truth about Blanket's dad, who was even rumored at one point to be Macaulay Culkin. Then again, it's possible that Blanket's dad was actually Michael Jackson -- truth, after all, can be stranger than fiction!
Do you think Michael Jackson is actually Blanket's biological father? Chime in below!

Michael Jackson's Mom Sues Concert Promoter AEG Live
Lawsuit allegedly filed by pop star's mother claims AEG Live neglected his medical care, according to an online report.By Kara Warner

The litigation that has surrounded the tragedy of Michael Jackson's untimely death continues. Katherine Jackson, on behalf of and along with Michael Jackson's children, has filed suit against AEG Live, the promoter for the late superstar's 50-date concert residency. Jackson's mother charges the company breached its contractual agreement to provide medical care for her son and argues they were negligent in hiring controversial doctorConrad Murray.
According to TMZ, Katherine's filing claims AEG's contract with Michael "created a legal duty for AEG to act reasonably toward the physical well-being of Michael Jackson." The website also points out that the lawsuit lists Katherine Jackson as a Guardian ad Litem, or legal representative, for Michael's three children, which Katherine is not. Jackson's mother is in fact only the trio's guardian.
The gossip site suggests that the mistake, along with the fact that Katherine's reps know nothing about the lawsuit, suggests she is not actively involved in this case.
In other MJ-related lawsuit news, Conrad Murray's attorneys asked a federal judge on Wednesday (September 15) to dismiss the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the singer's father, Joe Jackson, because he is not a beneficiary of the late singer's estate. The Associated Press reported that Murray's lawyers equated Joe's lawsuit to a "press-release that is intended to prejudice and inflame the jury pool and the public." The motion will reportedly be considered by a federal judge during a hearing scheduled for Oct. 18.
Joe Jackson sued Murray on June 25, the one-year anniversary of his son's death in 2009 at age 50. His lawsuit claimed the doctor withheld vital information about Jackson's medical history — including a list of all the drugs he had administered to his patient — from paramedics who responded to a 911 call, as well as to doctors at UCLA Medical Center who attempted to revive the singer. At the autopsy for Jackson, the complaint also alleges that Murray "said nothing" about having administered the surgical anesthetic propofol, which the coroner concluded caused Jackson's death. The lawsuit seeks more than $75,000 in damages.

'Glee' Creator On Britney Spears Cameo: 'It Was Like The President Had Come'
'I couldn't get into my own sets at one point, which I thought was hilarious,' Ryan Murphy says.By James Dinh
Heather Morris and Britney Spears on the set of "Glee"

Britney Spears may be a pop princess, but "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy felt as if the president had stopped by the set during Spears' recent visit to William McKinley High. Murphy dished about what went down when the singer filmed her cameo for the "Britney/Brittany" episode.
"It was literally like the President had come," Murphy told E! Online. "We all had to wear wristbands. I couldn't get into my own sets at one point, which I thought was hilarious."
Murphy thought Spears was moved by the cast's admiration for her. "I think she was really impressed about how so many kids of the show do what they do because they grew up wanting to be Britney Spears," he said. "She was really sweet with them. We had a number with a bunch of 8-year-old dancers in the show and she spent a lot of time talking to them, and they did the number for her ... She was so sweet, she's great with kids, she was so awesome."
But security remained tight, Murphy said, because "everybody was sort of trying to get into the set and find out what the hell she's doing in the episode." What Spears will be doing on the show is still unknown, but a picture the singer tweeted from the set suggests that she may be playing some sort of receptionist.
Aside from hanging with the pop princess on set, the "Glee" creator also got to hear some of Spears' new material. "I got to hear some of the music she's putting out later this fall or early next year," Murphy said. "It's really a great return to form for her; the songs are amazing so I feel she's riding the crest."
And while there has been talk of Madonna tunes blaring the speaker intercoms once again, Murphy has also revealed that Britney "probably" will reprise her cameo spot on "Glee" episodes.
Last week, the singer tweeted photos of herself on set alongside Murphy and castmember Heather Morris. Posing in front of a set that looked similar to the singer's "Me Against the Music" video backdrop, Spears channeled the Madonna look that was donned in their 2003 collaboration.

Rick Ross had a good laugh on Thursday when an alleged sex tape of his surfaced on the Net. The tape in question showed a husky man with a thick beard doing the nasty.
Ross immediately sent out a tweet declaring it was not him on the footage. "Just saw the so called sex tape.. the n---a had a [Louis Vuitton] flag in back pocket but forgot the tattooes..#fail."
On Friday morning (September 24), upon landing in Dallas, the Bawse called MTV News and had another good laugh about the would-be scandal.
"Nah, man. Actually, all the females are hitting me on Twitter," he said. "It's actually funny and flattering to know fat n---as getting pu--- all around the world. Spiff TV pulled it up on the laptop. When I saw the screenshot of it and saw the first few seconds of it, I was like, 'Damn. My mom taught me when I was young, never lay on hotel spreads.' They was laying on some cheap-ass hotel spreads that had probably had all kinds of sh-- on it, because they don't really wash the spreads as often as they do the sheets. So that was what I laughed at. Then I noticed homie really ain't have none of my tats. All the real Rozay fans know what time it is.
"The n---a had a Louis flag in his pocket, which we started rocking last year," Ross added. "But, you know, I've had tattoos well over a decade. So I just laughed at it. But it's funny. All the sexy ladies hitting me up on Twitter saying they want to shoot a real porno with a n---a. I'm, like, buggin'. Shout-out to fat boys getting pu--- worldwide. ... But when it comes to the person on the tape, who they really are, they can send me a little check."

Lady Gaga Thanks Fans For Twitter Crown

Lady Gaga's millions of fans have another title to call their Mother Monster: Queen of Twitter.
After steadily gaining on Britney Spears, who until recently was the most-followed user on the social-networking site, Gaga surpassed her fellow pop supernova over the weekend by landing over 5.7 million followers. At press time, Gaga's Twitter army clocked in at 5,726,168 deep, besting Brit, who had 5,696,275 followers. Just days ago, the chart-toppers were neck-and-neck, with Spears boasting 5,646,028 Twitter peeps to Gaga's 5,635,460.
When Gaga learned she had dethroned Spears, she took to the Internet to thank the people who made it all possible: her fans. In a video posted online, Gaga doles out heaps of "monster" love to her followers for solidifying her digital dominance.
Sporting a lace headpiece adorned with a sequined Twitter logo and an ornamental Gaga-fied version of the site's familiar bird symbol, the singer addressed her nearly 6 million followers.
"Hello world, this is Lady Gaga, queen of Twitter," said the singer, with a flourish of an illuminated scepter and a sprinkle of glitter; a move that was part-Elizabethan royalty and part-Glinda the Good Witch. "I wanted to thank all my beautiful little monsters for following me. Thank you for beginning my reign as Twitter queen."
The singer then wished her Twitter-dom only the most enjoyable of experiences when logging onto the micro-blogging site.
"May you always have soft cuticles while tweeting," Gaga said wistfully. "May you never have carpal tunnel."
The "Alejandro" singer, who filmed the clip backstage at her Monster Ball Tour stop in Tacoma, Washington, promised to keep the Twitter nonsense to a minimum. "I vow never to partake in celebrity online shenanigans," Gaga said. "And I vow to always tweet and tweet again."
Before signing off, Gaga left her legions of viral fans with a few words of encouragement.
"Just remember that I love you," Gaga said. "And love you yourself. Because little monsters, you were born that way, baby. I love you Twitter. See you at the Monster Ball."

Justin Bieber Says 'Girlfriends Are Trouble'
Pop star admits he doesn't have much time for dating right now.By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Tim Kash
Justin Bieber at the VMAs on Sunday
Photo: Rachel Goldner/ MTV News
Now that Justin Bieber properly took over the VMAs, lined up a bunch of projects and even announced the release date for his forthcoming 3-D movie, one might think he would want to find that special someone to share his days with. But just moments after winning his Best New Artist VMA on Sunday, the 16-year-old megastar explained that he's too busy for love right now.
"I mean, girlfriends are trouble at this age," he explained to MTV News. "Girls are fun to hang out with but, like, having that one steady girl ... we're constantly traveling and one girl's not gonna really [work]. You can't really have one girl. I don't really have any crushes at the moment."
With so much going on in his life, the "U Smile" singer is just trying to balance his career and personal life. "Right now, the best thing is [that we're] just teenagers having fun doing what we love," he explained. "We're just staying ourselves and remaining humble."
With his "Never Say Never" collaborator Jaden Smith by his side, Bieber revealed that he and the Smith family may work together again in the future, with Bieber possibly working with Will Smith on his next project. However, Bieber kept the details sparse, saying, "We're trying to figure something out."
In addition to trying to re-team with pal Jaden and family, Bieber said that for his next album, he wants to work with his friend and fellow Canadian Drake. "[It'll] probably [come out] fourth quarter next year," he said. "Drake is gonna be on that album. I'm not sure [who else]. I'm gonna ask him if he can get [Lil] Wayne on there."
The Moonmen have all been handed out and the stars have gone home, but there's plenty of 2010 MTV Video Music Awards news, interviews, behind-the-scenes scoop, party reports and more still to come, so keep it locked on MTVNews.com.

I've lived in New York now for over ten years now and I've ever been to the New York Public Library until today. Mark is in town and wanted to meet someplace where we could work, so I said, "How about the library?" I've always been meaning to go there but never have.
Anyway, long story short, it smelled like feet and body funk. It was gross. I don't think I'll ever go back. And I'm terrified of bed bugs at the moment, so of course I thought the joint was crawling with them. I shook myself out on the street when I left just to be safe.
Okay, bye bye.

Chris Brown's BET Performance Joins List Of Greatest Pop-Culture Crying Fits
Halle Berry, Kelly Clarkson, Justin Timberlake and more have had their moments.By Kyle Anderson

Despite the triumphant TV returns of Kanye West, T.I. and El DeBarge at Sunday night's 2010 BET Awards, the big headline from the show was Chris Brown's moving tribute to late superstar Michael Jackson. Brown flawlessly executed all of Jackson's most classic dance moves (including a scorching moonwalk), but when it came time to lend his voice to Jackson's "Man in the Mirror," Brown broke down in tears and could not sing, apparently overwhelmed by the emotion of the situation.
Crying in public is hardly a new phenomenon in the world of popular culture. Brown joins the list of some of the biggest stars in the world who have also broken down on television.
Halle Berry
When Berry won the Oscar for Best Actress at the 74th Annual Academy Awards in 2002 (for her work in "Monster's Ball"), she became the first African-American woman to take home the prize. That, combined with the overwhelming experience that was making the emotionally-charged "Monster's Ball" and the huge standing ovation she received, threw Berry into hysterics during her acceptance speech. "This moment is so much bigger than me," she said.
Kelly Clarkson
When Kelly Clarkson won the very first season of "American Idol," she was initially in a state of shock. Unable to express how she was feeling to the television audience who voted her the victor over Justin Guarini, she moved on to her performance of "A Moment Like This." When she hit the lyric, "I can't believe it's happening to me," she finally broke. She managed to get through the song, but to continuously apologized for her emotion.
Justin Timberlake
Ashton Kutcher's hit MTV show "Punked" certainly pushed a lot of his famous friends to the brink, but few had a reaction like Timberlake. When Kutcher's crew of actors pretended to be federal officers seizing most of his possessions for failure to pay back taxes, Timberlake flipped out and wept. Usually, Kutcher's reveal at the end of the episode throws the celebrity in question into laughing jags or fits of anger, but Timberlake was clearly just filled with relief.
Tonya Harding
Athletes cry all the time, but it's usually because of the overwhelming thrill of victory or the agony of bitter defeat. Rarely do they weep during a particular competition, but that's exactly what Harding did at the 1994 Winter Olympics. After dealing with her connection to the attack on fellow skater Nancy Kerrigan in the run-up to the games, Harding took the ice only to realize that a lace on one of her skates had broken. In between sobs, she pleaded with the judges to allow her to get new laces and start over. They allowed it, though Harding still only finished eighth.
Crystal Bowersox
The season nine "American Idol" runner-up had an extremely emotional run to the finals (including a harrowing health scare), but it took merely the presence of her father and a particularly heartfelt song to push her to tears. Bowersox slipped a handful of sobs into her performance of Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions' "People Get Ready" during Inspirational Week on the show. It was one of the many performances that put Bowersox in the discussion of the best "Idol" contestants of all time.
Tracy Morgan
The always unpredictable star of "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock" has had a tough life and a challenging career, but the mere mention of co-star Tina Fey sent Morgan on the crying train when he visited with Oprah Winfrey on an episode of her show back in April. "She's my friend. Tina is my friend. I love her," he told Winfrey as he was fighting back tears.
"Crying Girl"
There are an awful lot of "American Idol" moments on this list, aren't there? Ashley Ferl gained notoriety during the show's sixth season not as a contestant but as a particularly emotional audience member. The 13-year-old Ferl was so taken with "Idol" contestant Sanjaya Malakar's take on the Kinks' "You Really Got Me" that she sobbed uncontrollably, earning herself a great deal of screen time and the privilege of becoming an Internet meme for a while.
Did we miss any? What is the best incident of celebrity crying? And what did you think of Brown's performance? Let us know in the comments!

Estranged Husband of 'Real Housewives of Orange County' Star Arrested for Domestic Violence
This is not a good week to be a reality television husband! Yesterday news surfaced that Raising Sextuplets dad Bryan Masche was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and threatening domestic violence, while The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice's hubby Giuseppe "Joe" Giudice, turned himself in for his jail sentence for driving with a suspended license.
Now, Simon Barney, the estranged husband of The Real Housewives of Orange County's Tamra Barney, has found himself in deep trouble, too. TMZ.com is reporting that law enforcement officials revealed that Simon, who is currently in the process of going through a divorce from Tamra, was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of domestic battery.
A source close to the couple claims the alleged assault happened after the pair got in a fight over their dog. The source also alleges Simon threw the dog's leash at Tamra and struck her on the wrist. The altercation prompted Tamra to call 911. Simon is currently in custody and is being held on $10,000 bail.

Ke$ha Talks VMA Garbage Bag Ensemble, Lady Gaga's Meat Suit
'It was amazing. I got to wear a garbage bag on national TV,' singer says.By Kyle Anderson, with reporting by Kara Warner

Even if they didn't walk away with Moonmen, just about everybody who attended the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards exited the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles a winner. Taylor Swift started some buzz with new music, and Paramore's Hayley
Williams finally got to do a live tag-team with B.o.B. Another winner in spirit? Ke$ha, whose first visit to the VMAs was a positive one.
"It was amazing. I got to wear a garbage bag on national TV," Ke$ha gushed on the red carpet at the premiere of the second season for the HBO show "Eastbound and Down." "It was fun. It was good. And I got nominated for four, and it was a dream come true just to be there."
The 23-year-old singer, who did indeed wear a dress made from garbage bags, was impressed with the level of fashion experimentation at this year's show. "It was fun. I think everybody was having fun with it," she said. However, she is not entirely sure she would be able to take the steps that Lady Gaga did with her head-turning meat-based ensemble. "I don't know if I could actually put raw meat on me," she admitted.
With the VMAs behind her, Ke$ha is working on a new album, but was mostly excited to get out and support her favorite show on television. "I don't watch TV, but this show I connect with on a really deep level," she said. "I kind of feel like I'm the female version of Danny McBride: Kind of white trash, just ready to party."
The Moonmen have all been handed out and the stars have gone home, but there's plenty of 2010 MTV Video Music Awards news, interviews, behind-the-scenes scoop, party reports and more still to come, so keep it locked on MTVNews.com.

Jay-Z, Eminem Close Yankee Stadium Shows With Kanye West, Drake

NEW YORK — Like a good cleanup man in baseball, Jay-Z delivers big hits on a consistent basis.
On Tuesday night (September 14) at Yankee Stadium, the Brooklyn rapper closed out the fourth of his and Eminem's Home and Home shows (two in Detroit, two in the Bronx) with a performance that would make A-Rod envious.
"Break a record in this bitch, Hov," he rapped during a freestyle right after the opening number, the intro to his The Dynasty: Roc La Familia album. "Hit them with that BALCO."
The Roc Nation head, however, wouldn't need any performance-enhancing substances to give him an extra boost on this night. He confidently cruised through 90 minutes of material; Jay-Z was just as cool as the fall night.
Kanye West quickly arrived onstage two songs into the show for a mini-set of his own, riding shotgun with Hov on the "Power" remix and "Monster."
Jay-Z grabbed the crowd's attention again minutes later with an anecdote about his exit from the venue the night before. The legendary MC said on the way out after Monday's performance he ran into rap pioneer Kool Herc. Jay said he asked Herc to join him for Tuesday night's festivities, thanking Herc for creating hip-hop culture. "We wouldn't be here without you," he said.
"You ready for me to get out of here yet?" 'Ye asked Hov, bringing it back to the present.
"Not yet, we going all the way tonight," Jay-Z responded.
The Chicago star then burst into his "Good Life."
Next, Swizz Beatz joined Jay for "On to the Next One" before Eminem and the iconic lyricist traded verses on their collabo "Renegade." Eminem was agile onstage next to Jay-Z and appeared in arguably the best shape of his career.
"Go to war with the Mormons/ Take a bath with the Catholics," Em rapped. "In holy water/ No wonder they try to hold me under longer/ I'm a mother----in' spiteful, delightful, eyeful/ The new Ice Cube, mother----ers hate to like you."
Earlier in the evening, Eminem brought the capacity crowd to its feet by bringing out 50 Cent, who then brought out G-Unit's Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo with him. The trio from Queens sported glow-in-the-dark gear as the lights cut out during 50's performance of "I Get Money." Later, Fif ceded the stage to Em, and the Detroit superstar brought out Dr. Dre.
The hulking producer treated the crowd to "Still D.R.E." and "Nuthin' but a G Thang" sans Snoop Dogg; Eminem, though, filled in admirably for the Long Beach lyricist.
D-12 also took the stage during Em's set; the group dedicated their hit "My Band" to their fallen friend Proof.
The outfield was filled with fans, and their phones made the grounds look like a Lite-Brite as the screens lit up the stadium.
Jay-Z shouted out hip-hop's fallen heroes during his performance. He picked up Pimp C's "Big Pimpin' " verse a cappella and later ordered the DJ to play the Notorious B.I.G.'s "Juicy" and "One More Chance."
The show was smooth, but not without any hiccups. Drake delivered a stirring version of his "Light Up" with Jay-Z; the Toronto star sported a Blueprint 3-designed Yankees fitted cap to pay homage to Hov. "Welcome to the stage a man that's been getting busy as of late," Jay told the audience. "He goes by the name Drizzy Drake."
But minutes later, Drake stumbled through his and Nicki Minaj's "Up All Night." Hov offered a mulligan to Drake and later a olive branch when he told the crowd during his final song that he may have to offer the Young Money rapper a "free verse" to make up for messing up his sound.
Although Jay's most memorable performance involved his guest stars (Beyoncé also joined him, as did Nicki Minaj), this time it was a familiar face that helped him with the most moving part of the show. Memphis Bleek and Jay-Z ran through a series of the latter's past numbers as an encore.
"I got a million of these," Jay repeated twice, as he introduced songs ranging from "Jigga My N---a," "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" and "Where I'm From."
"For anyone that hasn't been down since Reasonable Doubt," Jay-Z told the crowd shortly after midnight, "you can head to the [exit]."

Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray's Trial Set For January

More than a year after Michael Jackson's death, the pop icon's former personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was in court Monday (August 23) where a judge finally set a preliminary date of January 4, 2011, in the cardiologist's involuntary-manslaughter trial.
TMZ reported that Murray's legal team won a request to get a fluid sample from Jackson as part of their defense strategy questioning the accuracy of levels of the surgical anesthetic propofol found in Jackson's body. The Los Angeles County Coroner's office determined that Jackson, 50, died as a result of acute propofol intoxication.
Murray has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter and has admitted to giving Jackson propofol, a strong anesthetic usually used during surgery but allegedly employed by chronic insomniac Jackson as a sleep aid. Murray's lawyers have said the physician did not administer any drugs that "should have" caused Jackson's death. The investigation into his death was equally lengthy, lasting more than eight months, after which Los Angeles prosecutors charged that Murray gave the King of Pop a lethal combination of propofol and other painkillers and sedatives in the hours before the singer was found dead in his rented Los Angeles mansion on June 25, 2009. Murray faces up to four years in prison if convicted.
After hearing from both sides in the case at the January court date, the judge, Michael Pastor, will determine if there is enough evidence to mount a full trial.
Jackson's mother and father, Katherine and Joseph, were in court on Monday, according to Radar Online, sitting in the front row as Judge Pastor set the preliminary hearing date. Pastor granted a protective order covering all evidence in the criminal case, meaning it cannot be released to anyone other than the lawyers, paralegals and investigators in the case.
Murray's defense team reportedly asked for access to three fluids collected by the coroner's office, including ones taken from syringes and an IV tube to re-examine test results. Pastor ruled that the coroner's office must preserve the samples, and if defense attorneys and prosecutors cannot agree on the request, he will schedule a hearing on the matter.
After court let out, a group of Jackson supporters gathered and sang an impromptu verse that featured the lines, "Conrad Murray is a cold man," while holding up signs that read "Justice for Michael Jackson" and "Love Unites Us, Peace Drives Us, Judgment Day 4 All."

'Glee' Creator On Britney Spears Cameo: 'It Was Like The President Had Come'
'I couldn't get into my own sets at one point, which I thought was hilarious,' Ryan Murphy says.By James Dinh

VMAs In 60 Seconds: Meaty Togs And Soulful Songs
We sum up the night, from Lady Gaga's outfits to Taylor Swift's 'innocent' track, in a minute.By Josh Wigler and Jim Cantiello

Between fits of laughter and streams of tears, shiny Moonmen and meat dresses aplenty, the 2010 MTV Music Video Awards were not to be missed. Sunday's award ceremony was jam-packed with memorable moments that caught even the most casual viewer off guard, and while summarizing the entire show in 60 seconds might seem like an impossible feat, the MTV News team is always up for a challenge!
Although the purpose of the evening was to celebrate and honor the greatest musical achievements of the year, some of the show's performers couldn't stop themselves from embracing their sadder sides, with melancholy tunes coming from the likes of Linkin Park, Taylor Swift and even Eminem. In fact, it was Slim Shady himself that kicked off the VMAs with his opening performance of "Not Afraid," which he followed up with a brief rendition of domestic violence-themed "Love the Way You Lie" alongside surprise special guest Rihanna. (Well, gossip sites pretty much ruined that surprise for everyone but Jane Lynch, actually.)
It wasn't all doom and gloom, though. Host Chelsea Handler broke the tension on more than one occasion, with fake pregnancies and awkward encounters with Lindsay Lohan among her many highlights. Justin Bieber tore up the dance floor with some similarly sized pals, while his mentor, Usher, literally wheeled around through "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and "OMG."
With 13 nominations to her name, Lady Gaga easily went on to be the big winner of the night, walking away with a walloping eight awards. But even she wasn't immune to the charms of celebrity culture, as she found herself awed by the mere presence of Cher.
"I never thought I'd ask Cher to hold my meat purse," Gaga proudly exclaimed. We always suspected you would, though, Gaga.
While the night focused mainly on the musical highlights of the past year, there was no side-stepping the VMAs of yesteryear — after all, how could Taylor Swift and Kanye West possibly ignore each other entirely after last year's awkward encounter? The singer-songwriter offered what could be perceived as a thinly veiled message of forgiveness toward West in her new song that states: "32 is still growing up now/ Who you are is not what you did/ You're still an innocent."
Indeed, the VMAs came full circle as Kanye closed out the night with his performance of "Runaway," proposing a musical toast to "the douche bags, the a--holes" and "the scumbags." If Swift forgave West earlier in the evening, a similar olive branch was offered again as the audience continuously cheered Kanye's name, signaling the end of yet another successful round of Video Music Awards.
The Moonmen have all been handed out and the stars have gone home, but there's plenty of 2010 MTV Video Music Awards news, interviews, behind-the-scenes scoop, party reports and more still to come, so keep it locked on MTVNews.com.

People are still talking about Nicki Minaj's colorful performance at the VMA pre-show with special guest Will.I.Am, and she recognizes what a big milestone it was in her young career.
"That was an amazing look," Nicki told MTV News right after the main show Sunday night. "I'm so thankful to have that opportunity. As an underground female rapper, that's the biggest accomplishment so far."
Nicki also threw kudos to her Young Money family member (and Twitter ex-husband) Drake. "Our divorce isn't finalized yet," Nicki joked before assessing Drake's performance of "Fancy" with Mary J. Blige and Swizz Beatz. "No, he was amazing. He's always spot-on. I thought Mary sounded like honey. Honey! Amazing. And, of course, my baby Swizz Beatz was up there. I loved it."
The day after the show, Nicki was back in her hometown of New York performing as part of Jay-Z and Eminem's Home and Home concert series. Minaj came out with Jiggaman and Kanye West for "Monster."
"I've just been blessed to be on a song with two living legends," Nicki told DJ Drama recently on his Gangsta Grillz radio program. "In my book, Jay and Kanye are icons, and I never in a billion years would have thought I would be on a song with one of them, let alone both of them. I'm happy people think I murdered the record. It just feels exciting to be a part of that collab. Seriously."
Minaj's VMA pre-show performance won over some new fans as well as her peers.
"I think Nicki Minaj is the truth," Katy Perry said of Minaj. "I think she is amazing, and I love her sense of style. I love her beautiful figure. It's hot."
"What I love about Nicki is she has the eye of the tiger and she is fearless," Minaj choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson said. "These are the components that I saw about three years ago in Lady Gaga. I thought, 'This is going to be fantastic.' Her swag is amazing."
